A NATIVE'S JOURNEY
As a native of Chittagong, I have always been captivated by the natural beauty that surrounds my hometown. The green hills, the soothing sounds of rivers flowing has been a part of my life. Growing up I had the opportunity to explore the serene nature of Chittagong and the experience left me in awe.
Let me start with Patenga Beach, my favourite escapade when life becomes monotonous. Sitting across the beach in the late evening when the sun starts to set with plate of fritters (locally known as piyaju) and hearing the soothing symphony of waves crashing against the shore provides a calming ambiance. It is a place where time seems to slow down, allowing me to appreciate the simple beauty of my birthplace and reconnect to my roots.
Next comes Sitakundo - a place filled with lush hills and ancient heritage. There is Chandranath Temple at the top Sitakundo hill which offers a picturesque glimpse into our spiritual heritage. The hills of Sitakundo are filled with innumerable waterfalls ; a best place to go for a hike.
Rangamati- which is located deeper into the Chittagong hill tracts is enchanted with the mesmerised beauty of the Kaptai lake. I am constantly fascinated by the stunning greenery of Rangamati. As a native, I am fortunate to see several cultures coming together in this beautiful place. It is a place where one can get the glimpse of different indigenous group of people living together with peach and harmony.
Next on my list is Foy's Lake a serene lagoon in the middle of hills. I remember about my childhood days spent here with my family and friends filled with laughter and joy . Foy's Lake is adorned with an amusement park, a water park known as sea world, zoo and a tracking field. There are so many things to do in here that it is not possible to visit all this places in a day.
Exploring the beautiful places within my hometown has always been a humbling experience. I still visit my go to place patenga whenever I get time from my busy schedule. Visiting all these breathtaking places not only deepened my connection with my roots but also provided me with an immense pride to be from of this city. There are so many hidden gems including all these places that I would like to visit once again. Its like you never get bored because you will always discover something new in every visit.
